Find out which dolls she has, and make a list of them before you start shopping. If there’s a theme to her collection of toys, you can either buy a doll that goes with her collection, or buy an entirely new Barbie doll. Toys include: sports Barbie, music, outdoors, doggie or camper Barbie. There are so many to choose from, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
Male and child Barbies
If she hasn’t any male Barbie dolls, have a look at a prince Barbie or the everyday male Barbie dolls and toys. The male dolls are great to play with for make-believe weddings and family occasions. Add one or two child dolls, to complete the family. Family groups can be made up of any combination of race and gender, to suit all family units. She can play make-believe games at the zoo, picnics, dinner times and family time. Pretend days out are limitless, and will stretch her imagination.
The prince Barbie is a great choice to go with her princess dolls. You’ll find she will also play with him with her Disney princesses and castles.
A couple of tips
Many fashion dolls have long hair that your child will love to brush and style, so there will be plenty of small brushes, combs and hair accessories that she’ll need to store. Keeping small parts from getting lost can be difficult. A good tip is to keep all the shoes, hair clips and tiny accessories in a plastic purse or bag. A small travel case is perfect for holding her Barbie collection of dolls and toys, and she can put her hair accessory purse inside the travel case. This is easily transported from house to house when she is having sleepovers or visiting aunties and grandparents.
Barbie has a good collection of shoes and boots, and if Barbie’s footwear keeps falling off, use tiny hair bands to keep them on her feet. These tiny bands are inexpensive and can also be used to create a host of hairstyles.
