Children’s games

If you’re playing games with your children, there are a few children’s games that you may have forgotten about.

Operation
Mousetrap
Ludo
Buckaroo
Snakes and ladders

If you haven’t already got these children’s games, check them out as potential gifts. We’ve got a great selection to choose from and have loads of information and gift ideas.

Operation
This is the one we all love to hate but keep going back for more! It’s an electronic game with sound effects. The patient has lots of body parts that need operating on, and you must use tweezers to perform the operation. If you make a mistake the patient’s nose will light up and you’ll get a warning sound!
Age suitability - 6 years and above
How many players – 1-4

Mousetrap
This has an age of six plus because of all the small parts involved in playing the game. You must build the mousetrap as you play and make sure you don’t get caught - that sneaky net is to be avoided!
How many players – 2-4
Age suitability - 6 years and above

Buckaroo
This is a great favourite with our kids. Hold your breath while you balance the spade - if you’re too heavy-handed he will definitely ‘Buckaroo’ and you’ll lose the lot!  All the family can play and it’s a quick game you can play before tea time.
How many players – 2+
Age suitability - 4 years and above

Ludo
Our kids and teens love Ludo. Ludo is a board game played with tiddlywinks and dice. At first glance this looks like one of your children’s games but, when played by adults in pairs, it can become a competitive strategy game; great fun to play with new and old friends.
How many players – 2+
Age suitability – 5 years and above

Snakes and ladders
A children’s board game played with tiddlywinks and dice. This family favourite is many children’s first board game. The snakes and ladders board is often printed on the reverse side of the Ludo board, so you get two games for the price of one.
How many players – 2+
Age suitability – 5 years and above

We all get excited about playing new games but sometimes it’s nice to go back to old favourites. So check out your children’s games cupboard for some old favourites.

Tip - Always check the box for age suitability - games are often updated and age suitability could change.
