Bikes and cycles - what's the choice?
Whatever kind of cycling you want to do, you can find Bikes and cycles to meet your needs. Whether you are looking at racing, cross country cycling, mountain biking or stunt work on BMX bikes, you’ll need to find the bike that matches your sport. Each type of bike has plenty of further styles within that group; Mountain Bikes could be downhill or slalom; road Bikes can be electric or folding. We’ve just touched on the basic types of bikes to give you a starting point. Mountain bikes If you want to go off road with your bike, you’ll need a mountain bike. They are strong and rugged enough to withstand off road terrain. The mountain bike has a huge following, and mountain bike clubs and holidays are extremely popular. You don’t have to start with a race level mountain bicycle to begin the sport. There are some excellent entry level bicycles that are well constructed allowing you to practice cross country and downhill riding. Racing bikes A massive step up from the road bike, Racing Bikes are made from the lightest materials such as carbon fibre, titanium and aluminum. They have to be comfortable and lightweight, so designs are always changing and improving. Professional Racing Bikes are quite pricey. Professional racers will use some of their racing bikes for training, and save their best bikes for competition. Road bikes The road bike has evolved form an ordinary bike into a technological machine. Modern materials used to build these bikes are carbon fibre, aluminum and titanium. The more advances in the professional racing bikes there are, the better the road bike becomes; it all benefits the whole cycle industry. Road cycling is enjoying a surge in popularity due to environmental concerns, fitness awareness, and a need for lower travel costs. There is a huge amount of information on the internet about road bikes, route planning, holidays, clubs, and city information on where to park, and how to commute with a bicycle. All the family can get involved in road cycling, with a massive selection of bikes for all ages from child to adult. Make sure you are familiar with the Highway Code and enroll in a night class for road safety to learn how to ride on roads. BMX The BMX bike, or motocross, has a strong build, to withstand the rigours of the BMX stunts. These cycles have to be tough enough to withstand take-offs and landings in fast paced races. BMX riders jump the bike against walls and land on hard surfaces.
